Spring has arrived in Korea and the cherry blossoms have started to emerge, conjuring images of romantic strolls through tree-lined streets.
The Korean outlet MBN recently conducted a survey with 1,217 people to determine which celebrities were the most popular choices for as partners for cherry blossom viewing. The survey reflected an interesting mix of celebrities, with female audiences selecting K-Drama stars over K-pop idols.
Kim Soo Hyun was the male star who topped the list with 19.2% of votes and his “Producers” co-star IU received 15.5% of the popular vote for female celebrities.
Female audiences selected several other popular Hallyu stars as their choices for cherry blossom viewing. Kim Woo Bin placed second among male celebrities with 14.8% of votes, followed by Lee Jong Suk, who came in third with 9% of votes.
Yoo Seung Ho, who is currently paired with Park Shin Hye as a spokesmodel for Lotte Department Stores, demonstrated his popularity with 7.1% of votes from female respondents.
ZE:A’s Siwan continues to demonstrate the popularity of the “Misaeng” craze. He placed behind Yoo Seung Ho with 6.3% of votes.
MissA’s Suzy placed second on the survey, with 13.6% of votes from male participants. Her placement demonstrates that her popularity has not diminished significantly since recent announcements of her relationship with Lee Min Ho. However, it should be noted that he did not place within the top tier of choices for female audiences who took the survey.
Suzy was followed by Hani (11%) of the increasingly popular group EXID. Jun Hyo Sung received 10.6% of votes, followed by Hyeri (7.2%).
The report by MBN noted that Kim Soo Hyun demonstrated the unique quality of receiving votes from female fans within all age groups.
Anticipation continues to rise as more information about “Producers” is revealed, with fans eagerly awaiting the K-Drama reunion of Kim Soo Hyun and IU.
